Summary Report Training Workshop on “ How to conduct the experimental work in Chemistry laboratory and Theoretical Methodology” On 21-22 November, 2014, The Cambodian Chemical Society (CCS) cooperated with the Kratie Provincial Department of Education Youth and Sports have organized a training workshop to Secondary and High Schools Chemistry Teachers at the School Resource Center (SRC), located in the Kratie Town High School. This training workshop was supported by ISP group in the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP). The Training Workshop aims to introduce both Theoretical and Experimental Methods according to the secondary chemistry curriculum to the teachers in order to support them to have proper capacity to demonstrate the Chemical experiments in their own laboratories. The Training Workshop will also aim to improve the quality of teaching and learning Chemistry of students in high schools and encourage them to admire to study Chemistry. Training workshop to chemistry teachers at Kratie province on 21-22 November, 2014. Approximately 53 participants attended ( 24 females) this two days training. The Deputy Director of the Kratie Provincial Department of Education Youth and Sports and Dr. Sieng Huy, CCS’s Executive Director also present at the opening ceremony. The following sessions were introduced to the participants: 1. Safety in Laboratory and the basic uses of glassware 2. Preparation solution: a. Preparing solution NaOH 0.10M from its crystal b. Preparing solution HCL from toilet detergent c. Dilute solution Acetic Acid existing in vinegar 3. Standardized solution NaOH by potassium hydrogen phthalate (K.H.P).Titration HCL by sample solution NaOH 4. Determination the concentration of Acetic Acid in daily vinegar by solution NaOH 5. Reaction between metals and water and diluted solution HCL 6. Testing pH of fruits Juice 7. Decomposition reaction of NaHCO3 by heat 8. Water Electrolysis in base solution. The training workshop has successfully been finished at 5.00pm on 22thNovember, 2014. Participants were very happy and suggested to have more training, especially for Chemical teachers at the very rural area of the country.
